Burmese History
The Burmese Cat was initially established in the early1930's in San Francisco, California by a gentleman named Doctor Joseph Thompson. He crossbred a brown female cat in which he obtained from Burma together with a Siamese cat; thus producing a new breed given the suitable name Burmese. Sometimes Burmese cats can give birth to a litter of lighter colored kittens. American breeders called for the CFA to acknowledgement the lighter color cats. The CFA then decided to accept the cats and now acknowledges four colors: blue, champagne, platinum and sable.
