One of Speedy's kittens, named Curly, was born with a full coat of curly hair and is one of the first documented ancestors of the current LaPerm breed. This curly gene is dominant and carried by both males and females. The owner of this discovered breed named them "LaPerm" beacuse of their wavy and rippled hair.
